Canadians have the option of registering for a wide range of basic and advanced first aid and CPR courses. This page will outline the varying different courses available as well as some basic details for each course.
Standard First Aid
- Includes either CPR ‘A’, ‘C’ or ‘HCP’
- 14 to 18 hours long
- Two-Day Course
- 3 Year Certification
- Meets Workplace Requirements for most provinces
Emergency First Aid
- Includes either CPR ‘A’, ‘C’ or ‘HCP’
- 8 to 10 hours long
- One Day Course
- 3 Year Certification
- May Meet Workplace Requirements
Childcare First Aid
- Includes CPR ‘B’
- 8 to 18 hours long
- 3 Year Certification
- May Meet Workplace Requirements for childcare workers
Occupational First Aid
- Includes CPR Training
- Meets WorkSafe B.C. requirements
- 8 hours long
- 3 Year Certification
- Can be offered in a combined standard first aid course (16 hours)
CPR and AED “Only” Courses – No First Aid
These course are designed for individuals that only need cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training. No first aid certification is included in these courses.
CPR level “A”
- 4 hour course
- Basic CPR and choking rescues for adult victims only
- Includes AED training
- No Re-Certifications
- 3 Year Certification
CPR level “C”
- 5 hour course
- Basic CPR and choking rescues for victims of all ages
- Includes AED training
- 3 Year Certification
- Includes content from CPR level “A”
CPR level “HCP”
- 6 hour course
- Basic and advanced CPR and choking rescues for victims of all ages
- Training in the use of advanced rescue equipment and trained backup
- Includes AED training
- 3 Year Certification
- Includes content from CPR level “A” and “C”
First Aid and / or CPR Re-Certifications
